Every July 1st, we celebrate Engineer's Day, a date that reminds us of the importance of these professionals in essential sectors such as the installation and maintenance of HVAC systems in shops and offices.
In the retail, industrial, or service sectors, having an efficient HVAC system is not just a matter of comfort; it's a strategic decision that directly affects the well-being of customers and employees, as well as the business's energy efficiency.

What does an engineer do when a company needs to air-condition a space?
When a company contacts us requesting an HVAC solution, the technical engineer is the first link in the chain. These are the key steps:
1. Analysis and evaluation of the space
A technical study of the premises is carried out: surface area, orientation, thermal loads, foot traffic, insulation characteristics, usage times… Everything influences the energy demand of the space.
2. Design of the HVAC solution
The engineer proposes the most appropriate system: VRF? Aerothermal energy? Ducts? Ventilation system? Each space has different needs. The design is adapted to both the building's conditions and regulatory (RITE) and energy efficiency requirements.
3. Power calculation and equipment selection
The professional determines the necessary power (kW) to properly air-condition without oversizing the system, which avoids unnecessary consumption. They also select the most efficient equipment compatible with the premises' conditions.
4. Installation supervision
From the execution of the work to the commissioning of the system, the engineer oversees every detail to ensure that the installation complies with the technical design and operates optimally.
Engineers: invisible protagonists of comfort and efficiency
Without engineers, commercial spaces could not be properly air-conditioned, nor comply with new decarbonization requirements, nor guarantee indoor air quality.
Today, more than ever, their work is intertwined with sustainability, environmental health, and the digital transformation of our cities.
At SCI, we trust in engineering
Our technical department designs and coordinates customized projects for retail chains, offices, supermarkets, and large workspaces throughout the country.
On this Engineer's Day, we at SCI want to recognize their work, their technical precision, and their ability to create more comfortable and sustainable environments.
